Britney Spears’ sons to undergo drug tests?
Britney Spears‘ sons are reportedly going to be tested for drugs - but for once it’s not Britney being accused of bad parenting.
Britney’s own legal team are said to have asked for two year old Sean and one year old Jayden to be tested as the star is convinced that ex-husband Kevin Federline has been smoking marijuana around them.
The boys are in sole custody of Kevin at the moment but according to Life & Style magazine, Britney plans to take a snip of each of the boys’ hair next time she has a visitation with them to check whether they have been exposed to the drug.
An addiction expert told the magazine: “Testing for secondhand marijuana use can be done using a lock of hair.”
“The test must be done within a day or two after exposure. Secondhand smoke would definitely show up, and results usually come back in a couple of days.”
But if she wanted to use the tests as evidence in their ongoing custody case, she would have to get permission from a judge - or consent from Kevin - before carrying out the tests.
Britney herself undergoes court-ordered twice-weekly random drug tests - which her lawyers claim have all be returned negative - but a source close to Kevin told the magazine that Kevin isn’t so clean: “Kevin smokes a lot of pot. But he never smokes around the kids.”

If, and this is a big if, Federline smokes pot “a lot”, or even regularly, it doesn’t matter whether he smokes “around the kids” or not. Of course it’s a little better if he doesn’t smoke in their presence but pot’s effects are 1)fairly long-lasting, 2)cumulative, and 3)impairing. So, it doesn’t really make it OK if he smokes pot outdoors, physically away from the kids. What matters is that he can’t be a responsible, capable parent while under the influence, whether it’s under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, or whatever other drug. That’s why the family court imposed the 12-hour rule on alcohol use. Probably there should be another 12-hour rule on marijuana use. Whether or not the parent who has the children has a nanny present is irrelevant, the parents need to be substance free. Both of them.

The court order says that neither can use illegal drugs or alcohol within 12 hours of taking custody of the kids. Unless pot has become legal for all in California then K-Fed has been violating the court order. Good job Britney…she gave him enough rope to hang himself.

There is no IF about it. K-Fed was video taped in October 07 smoking pot out in the open on a break while filming One Tree Hill. The video can be seen on line and many other actors and employees were complaining about the smell of it. Drug testing the kids is a great idea because if they show any evidence of pot smoke on their hair, it could only have come from K-Fed because Brit has a court monitor with her at all times. My guess is that her lawyer planned this out. By not fighting the court ordered monitor she wins now because no one can say she smoked pot while the kids were there. It would have been a requirment for the monitor to remove the kids if she even smelt pot at Britney’s house.
K-Fed is going to need a job and Shar will not be getting child support and may lose her kids since she thinks K-Fed is a great Dad despite his daily pot smoking.
