Tim Burton and Helena Bonham CarterForget about baubles and angels: Helena Bonham Carter has revealed that partner Tim Burton’s rather weird film aesthetic creeps over into their day to day life - and their Christmas decoration scheme.

She told Playboy recently that Tim dresses their Christmas tree “with dead babies and slime balls and things. It looks lovely and glittery from afar, and then as you get closer, you realize it’s rather gory.”

The couple, who have a four year old son Billy and a newborn daughter, live in separate sides of a semi-detatched house and maintain their own home: “Mine looks like Beatrix Potter. … He has dead Oompa-Loompas around and multicolored fiberglass alien lamps. But then he has some nice red-button sofas from Sleepy Hollow. So it’s a funny and good mix.”

But despite that and their film choices, she insists: “We’re not that dark. What I love about Tim is that he retains a certain innocence and a childlike quality. He sort of forgot to grow up. I think I’ve definitely forgotten to grow up, which is great.”

“At some point, [the children] will probably want parents. [They]’ll have to look elsewhere.”
