  • Many (constantly dieting) celebrities are looking forward to the indulgence today “allows”. Julia Roberts said regarding her plans: “It’s a good food holiday in our house. So, I think, you know, the baking we do, the cookies with the icing.” But she added that her three year old twins, Hazel and Phinn are “just starting to figure out” what Christmas is all about so she and husband Danny Moder expect it to be a little chaotic too.
  • Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are celebrating the festive season with both sides of their family at their home in Colorado - and both will take their turn in the kitchen. Katie told Parade magazine: “I will probably cook some garlic mashed potatoes and maybe a cheesecake. Tom’s really good in the kitchen [too] … [he] has shown me the greatness of extra chocolate chips [in cookies].” And daughter Suri will get involved too: “Suri will be in the dough everywhere.”
  • Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole though can only dream of whipping up a traditional dinner for her husband Ashley Cole. The Chelsea player “goes to a hotel” for Christmas “because he plays [football] on Boxing Day”. While she’s supportive of his career, she told The Wave radio station recently that she can’t wait until they’re old and can celebrate Christmas properly: “I can’t wait to make him a Christmas dinner, that’s a part of my life I’m really excited about.”
  • Denise van Outen has revealed she was set to face a big challenge in the kitchen this afternoon. The former TV presenter turned West End star was quoted in the Mirror as saying: “Me and my brother are making the big family meal at Christmas and I’m in charge of sprouts. I think we’re the only family in the world who actually like them so I’d better not mess up.”
  • And Robbie Williams will not be cooking but be serving up food for others: he’s reportedly signed up to volunteer at a shelter in Los Angeles today and tomorrow. A friend of the star told the Sun: “”Robbie does an awful lot of charity work. And this is really close to his heart. Most of the guys over here don’t really know who Robbie is. But there’s a lot of excitement in the air, because they’ve been told he’s a big pop star in Europe.”
