Fametastic Review of 2007: New arrivals

With half of the celebrity world - from Jennifer Lopez & Halle Berry to Lily Allen & Jamie Lynn Spears - currently pregnant, it’s looks 2008 will be a bumper year for celebrity babies — but 2007 has hardly been a quiet year for Hollywood’s maternity wards either.

Some of the babies were already big news stories before they arrived - like Melanie Brown and Eddie Murphy’s daughter Angel, born in April and still at the centre of a child support court case. While others became huge news afterwards and not always for good reasons - like Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberley’s twins, born in November, who were rushed to neo-natal intensive care after an accidental drug overdose.

Secretive Naomi Watts‘ much rumoured pregnancy was confirmed by the fashion house behind her Oscar gown and she, like friend Isla Fisher, grew to gargantuan proportions before giving birth: Naomi to son Alexander in July and Isla to daughter Olive in October.

And in true celebrity style, some stars went all out to give their newborn children kooky names: for example, Spice Girl Emma Bunton’s son Beau, Keri Russell’s son River, Jenna Elfman’s son Story, Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ star Anthony Kiedis’ boy Everly Bear and the truly unique, Princess Tiáamii Andre.

Other new arrivals in 2007

• Will Ferrell and wife Viveca Paulson welcomed their second son, Mattias, in January.
• Patrick Dempsey and wife Jillian had twin boys Sullivan and Darby in February.
• Later that month, Bryce Dallas Howard gave birth to a baby boy.
• Kerry Katona had her third little girl, Heidi.
• And Marcia Cross delivered the second pair of twins of the month - giving birth to daughters Eden and Savannah on the 20th.

• In March, Tori Spelling became a mum when she gave birth to son Liam.
• And the Jolie-Pitt clan expanded a little more when Angelina Jolie adopted a new son, Pax from Vietnam.
• Keisha Castle-Hughes gave birth to a baby girl in April.
• And Goran Višnjić and wife Ivana adopted a little boy, Tin.
• At the end of the month, Sheryl Crow adopted son Wyatt.
• In May, Kevin Costner became a dad for the fifth time after wife Christine gave birth to son Cayden.
• While Jaime Pressly kicked off her family by giving birth to a baby boy.
• Eva Herzigova also had a baby boy, George, in Paris in June.
• And Julia Roberts gave birth for the third time later in the month, welcoming son Henry into the world.
• Jack White and wife Karen Elson became parents for the second time after Karen gave birth to son Henry in August.
• And Myleene Klass‘ daughter Ava arrived a few weeks early later that month.

• Mary-Louise Parker adopted a little girl from Africa in September.
• And Charlotte Church gave birth to daughter Ruby at her Cardiff home.
• Salma Hayek welcomed daughter Valentina into the world at the end of September.
• And around the same time, Noel Gallagher and girlfriend Sara had a baby boy, Donovan.
• Milla Jovovich gained 70lbs while pregnant with her daughter before giving birth in November.
• And Usher was decidedly uncreative when he named his new son Usher Raymond V when the little boy was born in Atlanta.
• The British Royal Family had cause to celebrate earlier this month after Prince Edward and wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, welcomed a baby boy into the world.
• And Helena Bonham-Carter gave birth to a baby girl last week - her second child with husband Tim Burton.
