A video has emerged showing Heath Ledger at a drug-fuelled Hollywood party, talking about his own drug use.

The video, shot at a party at Chataeu Marmont in Los Angeles, dates from around January 2006. Although Heath isn’t showed taking any drugs in the clip, people with him are seen snorting cocaine and tables around the actor are strewn with drug paraphenalia.

At one point, Heath is heard saying: “I’m going to get so much s**t from my girlfriend [for being here]. We have a baby together… Matilda, Matilda Rose. I shouldn’t be here at all.”

He then spoke of his drug use, saying: “I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years.”

A source close to the late actor told the New York Post that the video was filmed at a really bad time for Heath - just as his fame was skyrocketing due to the critical success of Brokeback Mountain: “He was hanging out with a bad crowd. He wasn’t cleaning up his act. He was making absolutely no effort … He was really into heroin. He wasn’t sleeping or communicating with anyone.”

According to Us Weekly, two months later, his then-girlfriend Michelle Williams drove him to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, urging him to check into rehab but he refused, pledging to give up by himself. While he initially stayed off the partying scene, he was eventually pulled back in and another year later, his behaviour is became too much for Michelle.

The New York Post’s source explained: “She couldn’t take it any more. Heath wouldn’t show up for two to three days, and all of a sudden he would show up on her doorstep, an absolute wreck.”

“He was partying, doing drugs. She didn’t like the company he was keeping. She gave him an ultimatum … and threatened to get custody of the girl. He wanted to make it work, but it was this scene he was wrapped up in. Was he an addict? Yeah.”

“At the end of the day this is really tragic, he was a nice guy. I first met him in 2002. He was scared about the whole Hollywood thing … I don’t think he realized how crazy it was going to be. So many people wanted a piece of him.”

Heath’s body was found at his SoHo apartment last week and medical examiners are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before announcing the likely cause of death.

Kylie Minogue has said she understands what Britney Spears is going through at the moment because dealing with fame from such a young age is difficult.

Kylie was just 18 when she landed the role of Charlene in Neighbours and the next year launched her pop career that has now spanned over two decades.

She said recently: “I wish someone would write a manual about fame because it’s not easy. I’m always loath to say that because there are a lot more difficulties out there that people deal with every day - but when fame is handed to you, it is unique.”

“It’s not to the same extreme, but I can remember having a mini-meltdown myself - and unless you’ve got good people around to support you, you’ve got a problem.”

“Who knows what is going on in her life? Britney isn’t that young any more. I think she will still come back but it’s like she’s taken an extended holiday.”

I always wondered why Britney Spears spent so much time in fast food restaurant and petrol station bathrooms - in this country at least, they’re a last resort destination alongside those at bus stations with the anti-junkie lighting - but now it’s become slightly clearer : she’s said to have been taking up to 10 laxative tablets a day, when the recommended dose is usually 1 or 2 in a 24 hour period and for no more than three days at a time to avoid developing a dependency. That’s a whole lot of pooping. As well as her mind, I fear for the state of her bottom. Owee.

After Jared Leto at Sundance last week, Paris Hilton was spotted kissing close friend Elisha Cuthbert during a night out in New York on Tuesday.

The two women, who met on the set of their 2005 film House of Wax, arrived at Tenjune separately but onlookers report they quickly hooked up.

A fellow club-goer told the New York Post: “They were drinking and dancing, and all of suddenly they just started kissing.”

The women were at the club to celebrate a mutual friend’s birthday and as well as the kissing, Paris was seen dancing on banquets. A source told Us Weekly that both actions are classic Paris: “She loves putting on a show.”

But other sources suggest the kissing was inspired by time Paris spent with socialite Courtenay Semel in Los Angeles this weekend. Lindsay Lohan’s supposed roommate Courtenay is said to have been jealous that Lindsay was in New York, partying with Brody Jenner and Paris’ ex Stavros Niarchos, so invited Paris for a night out instead.

The two socialites were spotted dancing on tables at Falcon, a lesbian bar on Sunset Boulevard, and a source explained: “[Courtenay’s] been parading Paris Hilton around to all her lesbian events trying to make Lindsay jealous. And Paris has been trying to make Stavros jealous - plus the attention never hurts.”

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have reportedly cut back on their attendance at Kabbalah services, sparking rumours they’re no longer followers of the faith.

A source told MSNBC recently: “Ashton and Demi used to have an impeccable attendance record, but they haven’t attended a service or come to one of the Shabbat dinners we have after Friday services for months now. It’s just odd. Something must be up.”

Ashton is said to be the instigator of the decision: he was introduced to the religion by Demi when they first started dating and the couple married in a Kabbalah ceremony in 2005 but according to eyewitnesses, he has stopped wearing the red string bracelet usually worn by followers.

The source added he had grown weary of the commitment needed and has convinced Demi to take a step back too: “He was tired of being dragged there on Friday nights.”

Cheryl Cole’s friends and family are worried about her physical health as well as mental state in the wake of husband Ashley Cole’s infidelity revelations.

The Girls Aloud star is said to have been unable to eat anything solid since news broke last week of Ashley’s fling with Aimee Walton and she’s already lost pounds of weight.

A source close to the singer told the Sun: “Everyone is really worried about Cheryl.”

“She didn’t eat for a couple of days and everyone close to her understood because she was so upset. But time has dragged on and she has now gone the best part of a week without a proper meal.”

“She was already incredibly thin because she had been working out for the Girls Aloud video. But she just doesn’t have the frame to cope with losing any more weight.”

“She can’t force food down because she is still in shock. She’s been having dizzy spells and is close to collapse. It’s really worrying.”

Cheryl initially pledged to stand by Ashley but has now (temporarily) moved out of their marital home after further stories contradicted his earlier claims. After filming a new Girls Aloud video on Tuesday, she is said to have gone into hiding and, according to a source, she’s been sitting in silence contemplating her future.

The source explained: “Cheryl is really isolating herself. Songs on the radio upset her because she feels all the lyrics relate to her marriage breakdown. She is having a horrible time.”
