It’s a good job Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony have signed a $6million deal with People magazine for the first pictures of the newborn twins - because the couple are said to have spent $1.4million on their arrival.

According to In Touch Weekly, the couple paid $700,000 to reserve a special refurbished luxury birthing suite at North Shore University hospital in New York for the two weeks around Jennifer’s due date. The room, decked out with leather couches, a private kitchen, two flat-screen TVs and a large-screened Apple computer, lay empty for over a week until Jennifer checked in last Thursday and she spent three nights in the suite after giving birth to the twins just after midnight last Friday morning.

They also paid $300,000 in medical expenses (for private doctors and nurses primarily), another $300,00 on security and a further $100,000 on personal assistants on the run-up to the birth.

A source said regarding the expense: “It’s a lot of money but it was important for them that it all went as smoothly as possible. In [Jennifer’s] eyes, giving birth to her first children was more important than her wedding day so she wanted it all to be perfect.”

Jennifer and Marc took their babies - believed to be called Max and Emme - back to their Manhattan home on Monday.

Nicole Richie has been offered the chance to perform on Broadway over the summer, starring as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

The socialite is said to have been working on a debut album since 2005 and has long harboured dreams of performing on the stage in New York - but the timing of the offer, so soon after her baby daughter Harlow arrived, has made the decision more difficult for her.

A source told Us Weekly: “She’s definitely interested and weighing it out with the timing of the baby. It is in the super early stages of discussions and no decision has been made yet.”

“It would give her a reason to really show her talent and to stay in the new place in New York [that] Joel just got.”

“It also shows people are really excited about Nicole right now.”

“She is also weighing some other amazing offers but 2008 is going to be really exciting for her. She just working it all out and keeping Harlow in mind with everything she does, of course!”

Cheryl Cole has returned to the UK again to reportedly settle things once and for all with husband Ashley Cole.

Cheryl moved out of their marital home a month ago after revelations that he had been unfaithful and she initially went into hiding in the UK before jetting off on holiday to Thailand with Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts. From there, she flew to Los Angeles before returning to the UK for the Brit Awards, then went straight back to Los Angeles again.

However, she arrived back at Heathrow airport yesterday and a source close to the band has claimed she’s finally made up her mind about what she’s going to do.

The source explained: “Cheryl needed time to get her head straight. Now she’s ready to talk to him.”

Earlier reports claim she’s willing to return to their marriage but with a set of rules for Ashley to obey and a demand to move house. However, she was spotted using her maiden name in Los Angeles and hasn’t been seen wearing her £80,000 wedding ring since the kiss-and-tell stories initially broke last month.

The source added: “She might go back to him but she’s not going to forgive him just yet.”

Britney Spears‘ uncle has claimed that her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears is following in her parents footsteps with her unplanned pregnancy.

Jamie Lynn revealed in December that she was pregnant with boyfriend Casey Aldridge’s child and now William Spears, the brother of the sisters’ dad Jamie Spears, has claimed Jamie Lynn herself was an unplanned pregnancy.

William is quoted as saying that Jamie was livid when he found out then wife Lynne Spears was pregnant with their third child - because he’d had a vascetomy after they had Britney nearly ten years earlier: “Jamie got awfully mad. He said it couldn’t be his.”

Eventually a paternity test proved that the now 16 year old was his daughter: “That’s why they named her Jamie Lynn, to kind of make the point that she was from both of them.”

In related news, Team Britney has denied rumours that the star is herself expecting a baby. Her on-off boyfling Adnan Ghalib is said to have told friends that Britney is pregnant with his child but her spokespeople have denied the story.

The singer had another visit from her young sons yesterday though, following on from similar successful sessions last Saturday and on Monday. Legal teams for Britney and her ex-husband Kevin Federline are said to be in ongoing discussions about making thrice-weekly visits a regular occurrence.

Lindsay Lohan has said she’s keen to re-focus on her career after a couple of wild years.

She told Paper magazine recently that she started partying to excess out of stress: “I had a lot going on in my life and that was a way of hiding from it. I hadn’t seen my dad [for two years]; I had a lot of work stress ’cause I was constantly working and never took time to stop.”

“Everything was go-go-go, and the easiest thing was to run away from it, going out and drinking at night. You know, you don’t have to think when you let go sometimes.”

“But I didn’t realize it was getting in the way of my work - what I’ve worked for my whole life.”

Producers of her film Georgia Rule labelled her a “spoilt child” after her bad behaviour on set in the summer of 2006 and her recent film I Know Who Killed Me had to be filmed around her first stay in rehab in January last year. She had a second short stint in treatment in May after her first DUI of the summer before checking into Cirque Lodge in Utah for two months after her second DUI in July.

She now claims to be sober and has had time to reflect on her wild times: “There’s not really much else to do when you’re sitting in a treatment center. It’s like, ‘Why am I here? Let’s think.”

“Right now I just want to find a great script, a great role. I was so used to working and working and working, and for a good few months there was nothing for me to do. Now I know what it’s like to be an out-of-work actor, and how much it scares me.”

Certain Hollywood executives have said it’s too risky to hire the actress but Lindsay remains optimistic: “They either want to take a chance or they don’t, is how I see it.”

Kelly Osbourne was annoyed to find friend Amy Winehouse was one of the nominees in the ‘Villian of the Year’ category at yesterday’s NME Awards and was awarded up the ‘Worst Dressed’ middle-finger trophy.

Kelly told reporters: “I think that it’s unfair to knock someone when they’re down.”

And in related news, The Enemy’s Tom Clarke was similarly annoyed that Pete Doherty picked up the Hero of the Year award.

He told the Mirror: “Doherty doesn’t deserve to win anything. He isn’t in the music industry any more, he’s in the drugs trade.”

The Enemy picked up the Best New Band prize at the ceremony.
