Tyra Banks has revealed that she was inspired to become a talk show host because designers were not happy with her look as a model.

She told the New York Times magazine recently: “My biggest obstacle was that I was black and curvy.

“[The modelling agency had a list of] designers who would not book me because of my hips and breasts.”

She claims the agency then asked her manager-mum to get Tyra on a diet but her mum refused: “My mother told me the whole thing as we were walking down the street in Milan.

“She said, ‘They say you’re too curvy. Let’s go order pizza.’ We walked into a pizzeria, and we discussed a career change.”

Ellen DeGeneres has revealed she’s planning a visit to girlfriend Portia De Rossi’s native Australia to meet Portia’s extended family.

The couple announced their intention to marry earlier this month after same sex marriages were ruled to be legal in California but Portia’s elderly grandmother won’t be able to travel to the US for the ceremony.

Ellen said this week: “I’ve met Portia’s mother and her cousins, and I mentioned last night that we should go [to Australia] for Christmas [to meet everyone else].

“I can’t wait to get there. I’d like to get the show there. I’m going to push hard to make that happen.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly keen to have children with girlfriend Reese Witherspoon after having so much fun with her existing kids.

Reese shares joint custody of eight year old daughter Ava and four year old son Deacon with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe but a source told OK magazine that Jake very much enjoys playing step-dad to the pair and uncle to sister Maggie Gyllenhaal’s 20 month old daughter Ramona.

The source, who claims to be close to the Donnie Darko star told the magazine: “He knows he might be jumping the gun thinking of kids, but he knows that Reese is the one.

“He laughs and says he needs to propose and do this the right way. It really is first comes love, then comes marriage - cheesy as that sounds, it’s the way he thinks!”

The source added: “Reese has admitted that Jake has grown from when they first met into this very dependable dad type. He’s ready to have his whole life change.”

The couple are rumoured to have started dating early last year after getting to known one another on the set of Rendition but in October.

After their “trolleyed” trip to Napa Valley earlier in the month, David Beckham has reportedly bought wife Victoria Beckham her own vineyard in the area.

A source told the Sun that David paid a seven-figure sum for the vinery as a belated birthday present for Victoria after spending months researching the different options.

The source explained: “The Beckhams became wine buffs when he played in Spain. The vineyard went down a storm with Victoria. She was delighted.”

It’s not known whether the vineyard output will be purely for personal consumption or whether they plan to add wine to their Brand Beckham offerings.

Lindsay Lohan reportedly made a quick getaway to avoid a confrontation with her dad Michael Lohan at a New York hotel.

Michael is said to have outed his daughter and her relationship with BFF Samantha Ronson in an email to Us Weekly this week but the former drug addict turned Christian minister insists his comments were taken out of context. But either way, according to the New York Post, Lindsay didn’t want a daddy-daughter chat on Wednesday.

Lindsay and Sam arrive in the city on Tuesday and checked into the Peninsula Hotel ahead of an event - which Sam was deejaying - in the hotel the following night. But a source told the Post that Lindsay cleared out on Wednesday afternoon before going to lunch with Sam and her mum, socialite Ann Dextor-Jones: “Michael found out where Lindsay was going to be and went to find her.

“She was really freaked out by it because she has no interest in seeing her father.”

Michael arrived in time for the party on Wednesday night but spent the evening “staking out the lobby and waiting for Lindsay to make an appearance. It was freaky. He was sitting on the steps and texting like mad, and looking very upset that she hadn’t arrived.”

Sienna Miller has revealed that her relationship with Rhys Ifans has had a rather negative effect on her bum.

She told Elle magazine recently: “It wobbles when I walk. Seriously. I have a lardy a***. Some days I look in the mirror and go ‘Yuk’.”

She explained that she’s piled on the pounds recently and they’ve all gone to her posterior: “Our lives revolve around food. We are both totally obsessed.”

She added that the couple are hooked on pickled onion Monster Munch crisps and French fries dipped in chocolate milkshakes - but their main love is something a bit more fancy: “We have this horrible addiction to caviar, which sounds ridiculous but it’s true. We’re junkies.

“We do the whole works: blinis, chopped eggs, chopped red onion, sour cream… it’s total bliss.”
