Billie Piper & Laurence Fox marry in private church ceremony
Billie Piper and boyfriend of a year Laurence Fox married in a private church ceremony yesterday afternoon.
The 50-minute service took place at the Parish Church of St Mary’s, a 13th century chapel near Billie’s parents’ home in Easebourne, West Sussex and after turning down several six figure offers from magazines, the former Doctor Who star arrived at the church with a long black coat covering up her ivory gown from waiting photographers.
According to inside sources, Billie’s dress was formal but low-cut and featured a flash of pink, with the same tone being used as a highlight in her bouquet and the other flowers inside the church.
The ceremony is said to have included hymns - including a seasonal carol - and readings but while traditional, was also “very relaxed”.
Laurence’s school friend and head Usher John Forsyth told the Mirror that despite Billie and Laurence’s own fame and the presence of a number of television stars in the congregation: “It was pretty chilled out with nothing celeb-y about it.”
Church bells rang out as the newlyweds left the church then the wedding party and guests travelled to nearby Godalming for the reception - reportedly paid for by Billie’s ex-husband Chris Evans - which lasted until the early hours of the new year this morning.
Billie met Laurence while starring opposite him in the West End production of Treats in late 2006 and they both left long-term partners to pursue their romance.
They are expected to fly to the Caribbean for their honeymoon later this week.
