Christmas might have been a low-key, just three presents each affair but Madonna is said to have spent £100,000 on a New Year’s holiday for her family.

According to the Sun, the singer hired a private jet to fly husband Guy Ritchie and their three children, Lourdes, Rocco and David to India on Monday - New Year’s Eve - for the start of the new year.

The family are said to be staying in a £2000-a-night suite at the Ummed Bhavan Palace hotel in Jaipur, one of the locations where Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar held one of their wedding celebrations in March.

An inside source revealed: “Madonna organised the trip after hearing that her adoption of David has been approved. She has told staff that money is no object during the stay and the hotel will cater for their every whim.”

Madonna and Guy are thought to be planning to adopt another child this year: either from David’s native Malawi or from Cambodia.
