Lily Allen: I hate the modern obsession with vanity

Potential visa issues aside, Lily Allen has said there is “no way” she could move to New York because she thinks there is too much pressure on women to be perfectly groomed at all times.

She said recently: “Women there are too high maintenance!”

“I remember getting a manicure in New York, and this lady who was having a forearm wax - which I’d never even heard of before! - looked at me and said, ‘You will need one soon.’ I was like, ‘No! What are you talking about?’”

“They make you feel really bad about yourself unless you are completely pruned everywhere.”

“I hate that modern way of thinking that you have to go to the gym 10 times a week, you can’t eat this, you can’t eat that, you should get a spray tan. All that preening makes you look worse anyway.”

Such a naive girl.. New york is not filled with perfectly coiffed people.. who is she talking about. the majority of us are in jeans and tees. Now if she hangs with the high society idiots who obsess over plastic surgery and beauty then they make up maybe six percent 96 percent of new yorkers are laid back and could care less about whos waxing a forearm. I myself live next to a hairsalon and nail salon and I do my own nails. I go occasionally for a treat but most of us dont obsess. she needs to really visit the real side of NY and stop thinking we are like the stupid TV show sex and the city.

only idiots here spray tan.. most native NYers laugh at that stuff. manicures ..there is nothing wrong with that.. and we dont get them every week.. Nothing wrong with pampering yourself once in a while.. but to stereotype a whole city made up of

Lilly allen should open up her eyes and realize she just put her foot in her mouth.. Tell her to stop visitng all the upperwest side one percent of new yorkers and try the real new yorkers for a change…
Scratch that.. we probably wont give her the time of day if she came around anyway.. sorry but NYers dont pamper the celebs.. they are treated as nobodies like the rest of us..
