Johnny DeppJohnny Depp made an unannounced visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital yesterday to donate £1million to the hospital’s fundraising drive.

The hospital needs to raise £170million in five years as part of a redevelopment and expansion programme and Johnny made the donation yesterday after his daughter Lily-Rose was treated at the facility last March after contracting E.coli poisoning. The eight year old spent 9 days in the hospital, in what Johnny later described as “the most frightening thing we have ever been through”.

According to the Daily Mail, Disney, the studio behind Johnny’s Pirates of the Caribbean films will also donate £10million to the fundraising efforts: Johnny spent time at the hospital last November reading bedtime stories to patients while dressed as his character Captain Jack Sparrow.
