Britney Spears has multiple personality disorder?
After rumours of substance abuse gave way to claims of an undiagnosed bipolar condition, sources close to Britney Spears are now claiming that her mental problems are more likely to be a multiple personality disorder.
The sources claim that Britney has at least four personalities - “the British girl, the weepy girl, the diva or the incoherent girl” - and can’t remember any of her actions outside of her current character.
“The British girl” has been the dominated character of late - she was overheard speaking in a “British accent” when she was admitted to hospital earlier in the month and at several points since then - possibly inspired by the continued presence of Birmingham-born Adnan Ghalib.
A source close to the star explained: “She’s confused about who she is right now: is she Britney the huge star? Britney the mother? Britney the has-been?”
“We first thought that she was just playing, trying on different identities like different outfits to see which one fitted best. But lately it’s seems more serious than that.”
“She won’t answer questions or talk about things she did when she was one of the other girls - and she won’t talk to any doctors about it either. But most worryingly, her friends Sam and Adnan are completely playing into it and encouraging her, and we worry that’s making things worse.”

I’m really worried about this girl. I’m getting paranoid too. My name is Michael Spears, I’m a 26 year old Australian. Christmas 2001 I went insane, and I now have schizoaffective disorder. Long story short, i thought about this stuff for a long time, and then in 2003 I developed some theories of time, gravity & the infinite universe, and I invented my own religion “the world is a stage”, I attempted world domination etc. Anyway, I dedicated my Book to Britney Spears, “the woman God (me) created for Himself”. I’ve been in love with her for years.
M sane now though, and studying astrophysics at uni (just about to start 3rd year), and I’m working a summer job. Thing is, been working graveyard shifts, and the lack of sleep has been affecting my mind, then I read all this stuff about Britney Spears being mad and stuff… oh man, will this stuff never go away?
If anyone wants to read my theories/holy book/manifesto, check it out at doyoubelieveinthestage.googlepages.com/home.

I hope she gets the help she needs, the only way to live a normal life is to take your pills, trust me. I can’t live without my pills. The hardest thing about having a mental illness though is accepting that you have a mental illness, once you accept it you can stick to your medicine and get well.

I think this is the smartest thing she’s done. maybe now people will just let her be!! “cuz she is crazy” or whatever. i would probably do whatever it takes at this point too!

Multiple personality disorder is in fact called disociative identity disorder. I would say maybe britney has been diagnosed with a personality disorder, consistent with her threts of self harm and erratic behaviour. It often manifests itself in people who have not had their childhood needs met and is a life long complication as it can often be untreatable except with intensive therapy.

It’s good to see some intelligent posts on this board. Everywhere else I’ve looked
it’s just unpleasant people saying unpleasant things, because they don’t like her brand of music.
I noy a huge fan of Britney’s music particularly (I like Pop but prefer Dylan and John Lennon!),
but was diagnosed ‘Bi-Polar’ ten years ago.
It took me 5 years to get myself ‘right’. Although I lost a lot, I also feel I’m much stronger for having come through a truly terrible illness.
Accute Bi-Polar kills 1 in 3 suffereres. It is a physical , chemical illness. Cancer kills 1 in 3 also. Would people be so nasty if Britney had cancer?
People with severe mental illness did not ‘bring it on themselves’. These illnesses have been lingering since chilhood. There is always a ‘trigger’ (i.e. a traumatic experience, a death in the family, drugs, divorce etc.) but the sufferer was already ill, prior to the ‘trigger’.
Whether I like Britney’s music or not (I must confess I do like some of it!) , I have worked in the music business myself, and I know how hard it is for someone to get to the very top, let alone stay there for 12 years…..So every, every respect to her.
I really hope she gets all the help and support she needs to overcome this illness with a sense of dignity and self respect.
I was lucky to have 3 sisters and a Mum who stuck by me and gave me moral support no matter what I said or did.
It’s these few peope who geuinly care and understand who make all the difference.

I don’t think she’s got multiple personality disorder, but I do think she is bi-polar o rmanic-depressive whichever term you want to use. I think she’s often in an extreme manic phase that is punctuated with dips in depression.
It can be brought on by heavy drug use, or can be genetically passed on. Sometimes it skips generations. Who know? All I can say is this girl is in dire need of help, and I hope she gets it before she necks herself.
