Lily AllenLily Allen and boyfriend Ed Simons are said to be in shock after Lily suffered a miscarriage yesterday.

The couple had arrived back from their luxury holiday in the Maldives earlier than planned when the four and a half month pregnant star started to experience cramps.

A source told the Sun: “Lily and Ed are in a state of shock. The bad news has been really difficult for them to take and they are absolutely heartbroken.”

“Lily’s entire outlook on life changed after she found out she was pregnant. She had turned her back on her party girl image and had turned over a new leaf. She was looking forward to being a mum and starting a family with Ed.”

“They are surrounded by friends and family are offering support. It is a really difficult time for them.”

Lily announced the pregnancy in early December and despite it being early days in her relationship with Ed, the couple were said to be thrilled about the news and there had been rumours of an engagement.

Lily’s spokesperson confirmed the news of the miscarriage last night and added: “She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
