Ricki LakeRicki Lake has said she was more than impressed by Nikki Blonsky’s performance in Hairspray last year.

Ricki starred as Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 version of the film which, after a detour around Broadway, was remade with 19 year old Nikki in the lead role last year. Ricki then went on to host her own talk show between 1993-2004.

She told the New York Post recently: “I just adore [Nikki]. She’s so great in the film, and I’m entering into a whole new phase now, it’s so interesting to see her launch.”
