Gwyneth PaltrowGwyneth Paltrow’s friend, chef Mario Batali has said it was a “little gastrointestinal situation” that landed the actress in hospital earlier in the week.

The Shakespeare in Love star was briefly hospitalised on Monday and initial rumours suggested the problem was pregnancy or exhaustion related - the latter due to her recent decision to move back onto a more strict macrobiotic diet.

However Mario has told Us Weekly that it was just a simple stomach problem: “It’s now been straightened out. She’s [doing] great.”

The pair are set to fly to Spain together next month to film a cooking series about the country’s cuisine for PBS.
