Kiefer SutherlandKiefer Sutherland has been released from jail after completing his 48 day sentence.

The 24 star was released shortly after midnight local time (around 8am this morning GMT) after serving the sentence in full at Glendale City Jail.

Jail spokesperson Jail Balian explained that Kiefer left wearing the same shirt and jeans he’d worn to enter the facility on 5th December and he “looked like he was glad to be out”.

Kiefer landed the prison stay after pleading ‘no contest’ to a DUI charge following his arrest in September. He received a 30 day sentence for the offence and a further 18 days for violating an earlier DUI probation.

Kiefer chose to spend his 41st birthday, Christmas and New Year inside so that his jail term wouldn’t interfere with the production schedule for the Golden Globe winning television show.
