Johnny Depp to take over from Heath Ledger in new film?

Johnny Depp may take over Heath Ledger’s role in what has become his last film role.

Heath was filming the Terry Gilliam fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Panassus in London last weekend and after short break at home in New York, was set to return to the UK for six more weeks of filming next week.

An inside source told the Sun: “There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.”

“It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.”

“Johnny’s not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it.”

Production of the $30million film has been postponed indefinitely by the studio while different possibilities are explored. Heath’s casting in the lead role is said to have been a “key factor” in securing financing for the independent film so his death could be counted as a “force majeure”, freeing all parties of liability regarding agreed contracts.

OMGosh! that would be awesome!!! Johnny Depp is my favorite of all favorites and I enjoyed Heath as an amazing actor also! What an incrediable idea! i hope it comes true!

Heath was my fav actor and he’ll always be in our hearts. I hope johnny takes over the role that be good the movie fits him well just like I had fit heath.

I’ll watch Johnny in anything, but isn’t he preparing to start filming “Public Enemies” in March?

I think it would be perfect if they did that. Johnny Depp is my favorite actor and Heath Ledger was a close second. I think because they were so much a like as far as their careers go. Both started out as teens and wanted to get away from that “Teen Heart-Throb” image and be taken seriously. They both got into acting for acting’s sake and not to be rich and famous. They both shyed away from the papparazzi and they both chose films based on the characters and scripts and not on what was supposed to be big blockbusters! I have so much respect for both of them and am deeply saddened about Heath Ledger’s passing. I still can’t get my head around it. It’s very surreal and now exactly one week later, I can’t seem to stop thinking about it. RIP Heath!! You will be deeply missed!!!
