Heath Ledger worried he’d lose access to daughter Matilda?
A former friend of Heath Ledger has claimed his use of prescription and non-prescription drugs spun out of control because he worried he’d lose access to his daughter Matilda.
Rebecca White got to know the actor when she worked as Naomi Campbell’s assistant several years ago and earlier in the week discussed how the Brokeback Mountain star frequently took cocaine with the supermodel. Now Rebecca has claimed that Heath’s drug use prompted his split from Michelle Williams last year and he worried Michelle would use it against him in a custody battle over their two year old daughter.
After their split in September last year, Heath and Michelle had shared custody of the little girl but Rebecca told the Mail on Sunday: “Heath believed Michelle was going for sole custody.”
“She wanted nothing to do with him and many of his friends believed that in the last couple of weeks that really pushed him over the edge. He was getting more reckless than ever with cocaine and heroin.”
“His use of downers - sleeping pills and anti-anxiety pills and antidepressants - was also getting heavier because he needed them to sleep.”
“Heath was a very shy, insecure man. But in celebrity circles you need something to ground you, and for him that was being a father and the idea that Michelle might still take him back and they might still be a family.”
“Even though he was seeing other women, there was one side of him that still wanted their relationship to work. But there was also the side that depended on drugs because he felt like a fish out of the water.”
“He was not the type to have killed himself. The way I hear it, he went out the night before, he was doing cocaine, he wasn’t able to sleep, and the investigators think he woke up, didn’t remember taking sleeping pills and then took what accidentally was an overdose.”
Rebecca added that she thought Heath and Michelle were a “mismatch”: “It was this movie-set romance and Michelle got unexpectedly pregnant. It absolutely would not have lasted if she hadn’t.”
“Heath was an Adonis and she was dowdy and not in his league - careerwise or looks-wise - and no one could understand why they got together.”
“He was a partygoer and Michelle was quite straight. But when she got pregnant, Michelle was determined to have the baby. Heath wanted to do the right thing and stick by her.”
“Michelle kicked Heath out because he would be showing up all hours of the night with this band of hangers-on and doing drugs.”
“Michelle started to talk about going for sole custody. She wanted to be responsible 100 per cent. She felt he couldn’t be responsible for the baby because he wasn’t responsible for himself.”
“He got deeper and deeper into drugs as his fears of losing Matilda increased.”
Heath was found dead in his SoHo, New York apartment on Tuesday afternoon. An initial autopsy proved inconclusive and the city’s Medical Examiner is awaiting the results of further tests before announcing a suspected cause of death.

I think you need to open your eyes, clean your glasses or get an eye exam because Heath Ledger was no Adonis and Michelle Williams was not dowdy. Do not mistake simple, elegant non-plastic, non-Hollywood beauty for dowdy. Also, what does being in love or love have to do with being in someones league as far as career or looks? Shallow people like you is what is wrong with society. Heath was obviously a very selfish, self-indulgent and immature human being. He obviously was not doing what was best for his daughter by partying and doing drugs. Was he? A grown adult acting this way and we are supposed to say boo hoo poor Heath. I say poor Michelle for having to deal with him. Good for her for dumping him.
Also, it is funny how you wrote that Michelle got unexpectedly pregnant and if she hadn’t it would not have lasted. Last I heard, it takes two to tango. Then again Heath Ledger is an Adonis.

Hi,
Just to clarify, it wasn’t us saying that Michelle is dowdy - it was Rebecca White, as quoted in the Mail on Sunday.
We personally think Michelle is gorgeous - very cute and wonderfully not a Hollywood clone. She didn’t always make perfect fashion/make-up choices (who does?) but ‘dowdy’ is never a word I would use to describe her.
We were also rather partial to Heath though - he had a great smile and I loved his quirky sense of style.

Shame on you Stacey, how do you dare to be abusive to a dead man who isn’t even burried and you don’t even know but through magazines and TV? Don’t you understand that these kind of articles are the ones the rags have to keep themselves alive???
Michelle and Heath used to be in love, then things didn’t work- everybody can experience that, but they remained very close for Matilda’s sake for she meant the world to both of them.
On Heath and Michelle, the tabs don’t have NOTHING to heat up, unlike Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, there wasn’t another woman nor another man so that they could make money on neverending triangle articles. There was never been public battle over Matilda, unlike Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter nor Britney’s kids. Heath didn’t die b/c of illict substances like River Phoenix etc… So they ought to work on to make a living with articles like this one, aren’t they? You are the shallow one in my opinion, too much gullible.
Heath was very respected as an actor and as a man, despite their split Michelle Williams’ family and friend dearly loved him. Michelle herself would blame and curse you had she ever heard about the way you get judgmental about this poor Heath.

Could we say that Heath was f*****g his daughter’s mother in the a*s? Thereby indirectly sticking it to his daughter for the rest of her life? He certainly f****d his family in the a*s hole. No coincidence this all went down during the week of John Travolta’s QUANTAS pilot promotions for G’DAY U.S.A week. While sleeping last night, I had a flash vision, wherein I saw someone who had a huge ugly black mole on the side of their neck, shaped like the continent of Australia.

PS: The enclosed photos of Heath Ledger are young look alike portraits of Ken Kemp, complete with receding hairline. In the prophetic New York loft movie WHEN WILL I BE LOVED, absolutely everyone was f*****g everyone in the a*s. Especially the charming talented a*s holes like Heath Ledger.

A respected man is dead and has left behind a daughter. How about knocking off the gossip and speculation? It’s sick.

Just because soemone plays a role in a movie does not mean they are that way in real life. If you play a murderer it does not mean you are one in real life or gay or whatever.
