Sam Fox: Celebrity Wife Swap has got me considering motherhood
Celebrity Wife Swap star Sam Fox has revealed she’s considering starting a family with partner Myra Stratton.
The former glamour model/pop singer swapped places with the wife of comedian Freddie Starr for a week for the reality TV show, which was broadcast last night, and she said looking after his teenage stepchildren and 14 month old baby - as well as the comedian himself - has brought out her maternal instincts.
She told the Sunday Mirror recently that she and manager Myra, who have been together for over eight years, are now thinking through their options: “I wanted to get a taste of what it would feel like to be a mum.”
“I’ve always had a strong maternal instinct and ideally I would love one of my own. [At 52] Myra’s too old now, but I’m 42… there’s still time, though I know the clock is ticking.”
“It’s just so difficult that Myra and I can’t have a baby of our own. We’ve even talked of adopting. I’d rather do that than not have one at all - there are lots of children in this country who need mummies.
“Looking after Freddie’s baby proved to me that I’d be a great mum. But we haven’t made a decision, yet. And a week with a baby isn’t going to make me run out and get pregnant or do an Angelina Jolie.”
But even though she knows her time may be limited if she wants to give birth herself, she’s not letting her new plans get in the way of her pop career: “I’ve got a new album - my eighth - to promote and a world tour that will keep me busy for a year.”
“It wouldn’t be fair to drag a child round the world, touring. So the time has to be right.”
