Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse’s family are confident the star will stick in rehab this time because she’s not even tried to escape so far.

Last time Amy checked into rehab - to the Causeway facility in Essex last August - she barely lasted a day before checking out again, then repeated the brief stay a second time before finally giving up on the idea because she didn’t want to be separated from husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

However now that Blake has gone through his own detox in Pentonville Prison, Amy is thought to be a lot more keen to get clean and today marks her fifth day at the Capio Nightingale Hospital in London.

A source close to Amy’s immediate family told the Sun: “Although Amy is still taking each day at a time, she has done the hardest thing in the world by going into rehab.”

“She has been ill and is withdrawing but at least she is sticking with it as she detoxes.”

“With her family’s support we are hopeful that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel as she weans herself off drugs.”

“She will stay in rehab for as long as it takes even if it is three or four weeks. Nobody is saying it will be easy, but things are looking good at the moment and doctors are encouraged.”

Over the weekend, Amy’s mum Janis Winehouse echoed her son-in-law Blake’s comments that Amy will be dead by the summer unless she beats her drug addiction.

Janis told the Sunday Mirror: “I’ve known for a long time that my daughter has problems. I realise my daughter could be dead within the year. We’re watching her kill herself, slowly.”

“I’ve already come to terms with her dead. I’ve steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery. Because the drugs will get her if she stays on this road.”

“She’s invited me to the Grammy awards next month, but part of me thinks she won’t be alive by then. I look at Heath Ledger and Britney Spears. She’s on their path. It’s like watching a car crash - this person throwing all these gifts away.”
