Amy Winehouse unlikely to make Grammys performance, says dad
Amy Winehouse’s dad has said he doesn’t think Amy is going to be well enough to perform at the Grammy Awards ceremony next month.
Amy has been nominated in six categories at the prestigious event and had hoped to be able to perform live at the ceremony, using the event as a target for completing her rehab treatment but now Mitch Winehouse has said that he thinks it will be “too soon” because she’s still “not well”.
Mitch told the Mirror: “I’m not sure the Grammys are going to happen. I don’t want her to go - I think it might be a bit too soon for her.”
“She’s not well - that’s why she’s in rehab. But she’s doing OK. She is getting good treatment.”
Amy entered a residential programme at the Capio Nightingale hospital in London last Thursday and Mitch is keen to see her stay in the facility, both to receive treatment and to stay out of the arguments between her family and her in-laws, husband Blake Fielder-Civil’s parents.
A source close to the family explained: “He’s afraid the rows will set back Amy’s recovery. He just wants people to give Amy the space to recover.”
