Nigella Lawson: I won’t leave my money to my children
Nigella Lawson has revealed she doesn’t intend to leave any money to her children after she dies.
The cookery programme presenter Nigella and husband Charles Saatchi are said to have an estimated £110million between them but Nigella, the daughter of former Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson, has no intention of leaving it to her children Cosima and Bruno or Phoebe, Charles’s daughter from a previous relationship.
She told My Weekly recently that she wants her children to appreciate the value of money and that “you have to work in order to earn money.”
“I am determined that my children should have no financial security. It ruins people not having to earn money.”
“I argue with my husband Charles, because he believes that you should be able to leave money to your children.”
“I think we’ll have to agree to disagree.”
She did not say what would happen to her money instead but has worked closely with cancer charities in the past, sparking suggestions she would donate it to a good cause.
