Britney SpearsDoctors at UCLA Medical Center have reportedly signed papers to extend Britney Spears‘ stay at the facility for a further 14 days.

Britney’s initial 72 hour mental health evaluation hold expired in the early hours of this morning but according to sources close to the family, doctors signed the papers - an internal order that does not need to be court mandated - last night.

A second source told People magazine that Britney is currently being held in a “padded room” and is subject to around the clock observation. But the facility, the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, does allow patients to wear their own clothes and keep hold of personal possessions such as toiletries. She is also allowed visitors every day and can receive and make phone calls, but only from a pay phone and not her own mobile phone.

Another inside source told the Daily Mail that Britney is mostly passing the time watching television but only “pre-taped programs and movies on DVD”: “These are pre-approved programs that aren’t going to be showing clips of her recent past behaviour.”

“And she’s allowed to read, again, as long as the reading material has been pre-approved by her doctors. She can look at fashion magazines, but nothing that is about her.”

In related news, the Los Angeles Police Department was called to Britney’s Studio City home on Friday evening after her parents discovered valuable possession belong to the singer were missing.

Jamie and Lynne Spears returned to the property after the court hearing granting Jamie temporary control over Britney’s estate and well-being.

A source told Us Weekly the pair were “shocked” to discover the theft and immediately filed a report with the police.

Under the court order, Jamie has authorisation to secure Britney’s homes, including changing the locks and evicting anyone staying in the properties. A three-week restraining order was also granted against Britney’s friend and advisor, Sam Lufti.
