Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse took a brief excursion out of rehab yesterday to meeting with US embassy officials over her Grammy Awards appearance at the weekend.

Amy is nominated in six award categories so was expected to perform at Sunday’s ceremony - but her arrest for possession of cannabis in Norway last year, the recent footage of her smoking crack and her current rehab treatment may make it problematic for her to obtain the required work visa.

Dressed in a miniskirt, low-cut top and her trademark beehive, Amy spent two and a half hours talking with officials at the US Embassy in London yesterday afternoon and inside sources claim the meeting was “useful but not straightforward”.

However, even if she acquires the necessary paperwork, doctors at the Capio Nightingale rehab facility may advise her not to make the trip in case it jeopardises her ongoing treatment.

A source told the Mirror: “She is determined to be there but everyone is assessing the situation day by day. If she is well enough to go then she will.”

Amy checked into the clinic on 24th January and is said to have undergone “cold turkey” detox in an effort to beat her various drug addictions.
