Eva MendesEva Mendes sparked reports that she’s checked out of rehab mid-way through her treatment programme after she was spotted boarding a flight to Los Angeles earlier this week.

The Hitch actress checked into the Cirque Lodge facility in Utah late last month to “attend to some personal issues” but was spotted leaving the centre en route to LA on Wednesday.

However, her spokesperson insists that Eva will return to the clinic in due course: “Eva is attending to some personal business in Los Angeles and intends to return to complete her treatment shortly.”

A source told Us Weekly that Eva has been struggling with a substance abuse problem for a long time but unlike most celebrities, she’s kept her partying problems out of the public eye: “She kept it all behind closed doors and wasn’t really a mess in public.”

“She has a lot of low self-esteem and body issues. For a lot of girls in Hollywood, cocaine makes them feel more confident and stay skinny.”

“[But now] she wants to be healthy.”

Debra Messing, Eva’s co-star in the forthcoming film The Women added: “I have no doubt that like everything else Eva puts her mind to, she will get through this challenging time. I send my love to her.”
