Heath LedgerHeath Ledger will be remembered in a wake on his favourite beach after his funeral tomorrow.

Heath is expected to be buried in a family plot at a cemetary in Perth, Australia tomorrow morning then the mourning party will move onto a wake at restaurant at nearby Cottesloe Beach.

Childhood friend Paul Mullert told the Australian Times that the send-off is perfect for Heath, “the quintessential Australian, who loved nothing more [than] slipping on a pair of boardies and his [flip-flops] and heading to Cottesloe Beach.”

Heath’s family arrived back in Perth earlier in the week, followed by ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams and their daughter Matilda on Tuesday. Heath’s Brokeback Mountain co-star Jake Gyllenhaal is also expected to attend the private service.

In related news, Heath’s SoHo, New York apartment has put on the rental market less than three weeks after the actor’s body was found in the bedroom.

Heath started renting the Broome Street property in September last year for around $22,000 a month but the owners are now asking for around $25,000 for the three-bedroom property.

A source told the New York Post: “You don’t wait around in a hot rental market like this.”

“As ghoulish as it sounds, people will rent that place in a heartbeat, especially when the [city’s apartment] vacancy rate is below one per cent.”
