Barron Hilton released on $20000 bail after DUI arrest

Paris Hilton’s little brother Barron Hilton was arrested for a DUI yesterday morning and was released on a $20,000 bail put together by his friends after his family refused to help out.

Barron was stopped around 8am local time while driving erratically on the Pacific Coast Highway in California and is alleged to have hit a petrol station attendant with his black Mercedes.

As the 18 year old is under 21, any blood alcohol level is considered to be legally drunk but Barron’s reading of .14 is almost twice the legal limit even for those over 21.

He was taken to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s station and charged with a misdemanour DUI and carrying a false Californian driving license. He was held in a cell until 5:50pm when his friends made a deal with a bail bondsman after garthering $2000 in cash.

“Very upset and disappointed” big sister Paris - who spent nearly a month in jail last year for violating her DUI probation - is said to have refused to put up the money, telling him: “You’re going to learn your lesson”.

Before the arrest was confirmed by police, their father Rick Hilton released a statement, saying: “I haven’t been contacted yet by either my son or the police. If what I have heard is true, it is very disturbing and I will have a lot to say - but it will be to my son, not the media.”

Like Paris, Barron is an heir to a share of the hotel-owning family’s fortune - but the amount due was vastly reduced last year when their grandfather, also named Barron Hilton, confirmed he was giving 97% of his $2.3billion fortune to charity.
