Princes William & Harry planning cross-Africa charity trip
Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly planning a 1000-mile motorbike trip across Africa to raise money for charity.
The brothers are said to be considering following in the path of Ewan McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman who made a similar journey in the television series Long Way Down but the royal pair’s main aim is to raise money for Harry’s Sentebale charity, which helps orphans and HIV/AIDS victims in Lesotho.
A friend told the Daily Mail recently: “William is a keen motorcyclist and he couldn’t turn down the invitation from Harry. The trip is currently being planned.”
The brothers are said to have already been granted leave from their military duties - Harry is an officer in the Household Cavalry while William is currently training with the RAF - but the planning for the adventure will be far from easy, given the danger involved with travelling through certain regions. The newspaper estimates it may cost up to £100,000 to provide security throughout the trip.
