Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse is reportedly taking a combination of methadone and prescription drugs in her ongoing efforts to beat her drug addictions.

Amy was initially said to have gone “cold turkey” to rid her body of heroin and crack cocaine but now a source close to the singer has said that she’s been helped through the process with other drugs so that she could be strong enough to perform at various prestigious awards shows.

Amy left residential treatment at the Capio Nightgale hospital in London ahead of her Grammy Awards performance last weekend and is expected to perform twice at Tuesday’s Brit Awards.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Amy would be far too sick if she was made to go through complete cold turkey. They have accepted the important thing at the moment is to get her through the awards shows.”

Her dad Mitch Winehouse added: “Amy’s doing really well and really getting better. There has been a fantastic change.”

But things aren’t going quite so well for her currently imprisoned husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

Blake was said to have gone through his own detox when he was sent to Pentonville Prison in November and beaten his drug addiction - but an new incident has suggested he’s still using heroin.

According to the People newspaper, Blake collapsed in his cell this week and nearly choked on his own vomit after taking a contaminated batch of the drug.

A source told the newspaper: “Blake fell ill soon after he had took the drugs last Monday night. His condition was serious enough for him to be rushed straight into the prison hospital.”

“He has remained under observation since and still does not seem well enough to be allowed out of the hospital.”

“His wife was made aware of the situation. She seemed worried when told about the incident.”

“Questions are being asked about how this dodgy batch of drugs got into the prison in the first place.”

A source quoted in the News of the World added: “This was a close call, but he might not be so lucky next time.”

“It’s only because everyone reacted so quickly that this dodgy gear didn’t do long-term harm.”

“If he carries on taking so many drugs, he’ll end up dead before long.”

A spokesperson for the prison service confirmed the collapse: “A small number of prisoners at HMP Pentonville were treated in prison healthcare following the consumption of an unknown substance.”
