Kate NashBest Female and Best Breakthrough Act nominee Kate Nash has said she’s keen to stay as normal as possible despite her meteoric rise to fame over the last year.

Kate’s debut album ‘Made of Bricks’ topped the charts on its release in August last year and has gone platinum, selling over 300,000 copies over the last six months - but Kate is keen to keep her feet on the ground.

She explained recently: “I’m not wild at all, I don’t even pretend to be. My big ambitions for this year are to learn to drive, buy a house and knit. So far I’ve made a scarf - and I’m well chuffed.”

“You can’t be that rock ’n’ roll when you still live at home with your mum and dad in Harrow.”

As boyfriend, The Cribs frontman Rick Jarman is away on tour, Kate is taking her mum and dad to the ceremony at Earls Court tonight and she hopes they’ll be able to catch up with Paul McCartney again: “I met him at Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. He was wicked. He chatted to my mum and he was dancing around the place.”

“Then he told me he thought ‘Mouthwash’ was a really great song. I was blown away - Paul McCartney actually knows my music!”
