Chantelle HoughtonChantelle Houghton has said she had to change almost everything about herself during her brief marriage to her Celebrity Big Brother housemate, Preston.

The couple, who met in the CBB house in January 2006, were married for just ten months before splitting last June and much to Chantelle’s distress, Preston has since reconciled with his former fiance, Camille Aznar.

Chantelle has previously said the marriage drove her to alcohol and bulimia but in an interview with Heat magazine, she’s spoken more about day-to-day life with the Ordinary Boys star.

She explained he frequently disapproved of her taste in clothing, frequently asking her pick more modest and low-key outfits: “I lost all my confidence from being with Preston. I could never wear bright colours, and if I did, he would say, ‘Can’t you wear something more stylish?’”

“He’d also say, ‘You’ve got too much fake tan on,’ and in the end I’d give up.”

“I wasn’t allowed to watch soaps or TV after 8.30pm - that was talking time.”

But she had to be careful what she said because if she said anything unintelligent, he would criticise her: “He would say I was ’so Essex’, whereas before he would laugh.”

Since the couple’s divorce was finalised last autumn, Chantelle has had a boob job and has adopted a more glamour model look: “I wasn’t allowed make-up [with him]. Now can you see why I’m piling it on all the time.”

“It was such an ordeal. I tried to be the person he wanted, but in the end I’ve broken out and gone yeah, I’ve gone over the top, I’m aware of that.”
