Amy Winehouse’s facial swelling is reportedly a result of self-harm not a skin condition, according to new reports.

The singer was spotted with a swollen cheek at the weekend and her spokesperson attributed it to an infectious skin condition, impetigo - but a source has now told the Sun it is a infected wound after the singer stubbed a cigarette out on her own cheek.

A source explained that Amy was at a diner with friends and was asked three times by waiting staff to extinguish the cigarette before she complied - by pushing the burning tip into her skin: “She hardly flinched … The whole place was open-mouthed in horror.”

“She was so out of it that she didn’t feel the pain - everyone else looked completely stunned.”

“The waitress covered her mouth in shock and just walked off to tell the manager. It was a shocking sight.”

The singer then tried to cover up the wound with make-up, causing an infection to develop. Amy is now said to be on antibiotics to reduce the swelling.

In related news, Amy’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil is said to have received medical treatment in HMP Pentonville after cutting into his arms with a broken safety razor blade.

He is said to have been taken to the medical wing of the prison at the weekend after slashing the tattoo of his wife on his arm because she didn’t attend his court hearing on Friday - but that was just he start of his cutting.

A prison source added: “Blake is in a serious mess. His self harming is worse then ever - he is cut to ribbons but carries on gashing his arms with razor blades.”

“He [also] won’t talk to most other prisoners now because he gets threatened and hassled for money, so he sits in his cell either cutting himself or doing whatever drugs he can get.”

“He’s not coping with prison life.”
