Cat Deeley: US television is too perfect
Cat Deeley has said she think’s US television is soulless because it’s so perfect.
The TV presenter started out on MTV UK but made her name presenting the Saturday morning pop show CD:UK with Ant & Dec between 1998-2002. After working on a number of other shows in Britain, Cat moved to the US in 2006 to present reality talent show So You Think You Can Dance and is currently filming the programme’s fourth season.
But she said recently of US television presenting: “It all looks a bit Stepford over here.”
“It’s very professional, but it’s as though the personality has been taken away from it.”
“Everything is so perfect. I don’t host a show and go, ‘Have you got my best angle?’”
The former model added that she was used to people commenting about her clothes or hair when she was on British television: “But here, kids say, ‘Oh, she should get her nose straightened.’”
