Nicole Richie is a “full-fledged mom” now, says Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie has said his daughter Nicole Richie has become a “full-fledged mom” in the two months since giving birth.

Nicole and fiance Joel Madden welcomed daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden into the world in January and Lionel called into On Air with Ryan Seacrest yesterday to say: “That baby is the sweetest, most beautiful baby. Nicole’s kid is amazing.”

“[Nicole] has turned into a full-fledged mom.”

“It’s the most frightening thing in the world because you keep thinking, ‘Are you going out?’ And [she’s like], ‘No, dad, can’t go out. She has another feeding - I have to be right here.’”

But he admits Nicole wasn’t so comfortable with her new role at first and when he first visited his new granddaughter, Nicole’s face was the “funniest picture”: “She had this look of her face, and I said, ‘And it doesn’t come with a manual.’”

But Lionel has complete faith in his daughter now - and he likes her choice of man as well. Regarding Joel, he said: “This guy is so in tune with Nicole - I love him to death.”

“I couldn’t ask for a better guy, if there is a matrimony down the line, you’ll know it first cos I’ll be telling everybody.”
