Demi Moore: I’m grateful I still get along with Bruce Willis

Demi Moore has said she’s delighted by how well she still gets along with ex-husband Bruce Willis.

She told Harper’s Bazaar recently: “I’m the product of divorced parents, and my brother and I were the pawns in my parents’ game. I never wanted that for my kids.”

“At that time, I could not have seen what a gift that situation was, but without that experience, I would not have known there was a different choice to make in my own divorce.”

“You know, I didn’t get married and have children so I could get a divorce, get remarried, and get along with my ex-husband. But since that is what happened, I am grateful it turned out this way.”

She also believes that her marriage with Ashton Kutcher actually helped her post-divorce relationship with Bruce: “One of the most healing things for Bruce was seeing me meet someone who has brought me so much happiness. And I so much want the same for him.”

“We get so much from being able to share holidays and spend time with all of us together. The kids don’t have to choose. They’re getting double the support, double the love, double the encouragement.”

Ashton himself added that he was surprised by how easy it was to become friends with Bruce: I just had to get over my ego, which was screaming, ‘This guy used to sleep with your woman,’ and I listened instead to the little voice inside that was whispering, ‘This guy loves and cares about your woman.’”

“Once I did that, it was a cakewalk. He’s a great guy. Great guys make great friends.”
