Colin Farrell struck out while trying to pick up a woman in a New York bar last week.

According to the New York Post, the womaniser approached model Meghan Lowther at the Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel after watching her from afar for most of the evening - only to find her male companion was her boyfriend.

An onlooker told the newspaper that Colin told the boyfriend: “You’ve got the most beautiful girl in the place, and you can’t blame a guy for trying.”

The boyfriend then replied: “You tried. Now get out of here.”
