Patrick Swayze dropped out of film on cancer diagnosis
Patrick Swayze has reportedly pulled out of a film despite claims from his spokesperson that he is continuing to work throughout his treatment for pancreatic cancer.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Dirty Dancing star confirmed reports that the actor is undergoing treatment for the disease but along with his doctor, downplayed reports that the cancer is terminal, giving Patrick just weeks to live.
His spokesperson insisted he is “continuing his normal schedule .. which includes working on upcoming projects” including forthcoming FBI drama series The Beast - but the producers of romantic comedy Fired Up! have claimed he dropped out of the film when he was diagnosed last month.
A spokesperson for the film told OK magazine that Patrick withdrew “three weeks to a month ago” with no explanation.
A source explained: “Everyone is trying to be optimistic and pretending that his life is continuing as normal but unfortunately it’s not.”
Patrick is currently undergoing radiation therapy - not chemotherapy - but his spokesperson reports that while they do not know how long his treatment is expected to last, the cancer has not spread.

As a fan of Dirty Dancing, Patrick Swayze has been on my mind constantly. It’s nice to see one person in the limelight that has been able to maintain a marriage, not get in trouble w/ DUI’s, drugs, etc. You should be a role model to all actors and actresses. How proud and lucky your wife. As a 33 yr old mother of 3, happily married to a husband whose had 2 open heart surgeries I feel the greatest gift we can give to our kids is the love of husband and wife. I’d say you’ve done your job. How proud you and your kids should be of the life you have provided them. You are a phenominal person in my eyes, and I’ve got high standards! Thoughts are with you of course. Dirty Dancing #1 fan (that movie made me feel ok about myself)
