Heather Mills wants divorce details to stay a secret in case Paul McCartney “wins”

Heather Mills is reportedly keen for her divorce settlement from Paul McCartney to be kept a secret in case it makes the former Beatle appear to have “won”.

High Court judge Mr Justice Bennett is expected to make his ruling on the financial aspect of the split tomorrow and was previously rumoured to be planning to make the details public due to the wide level of interest in the case. But even though she is said to have furiously fought against gagging orders during the private hearing last month, Heather is now said to be adamant that the details are kept secret.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Heather is having second thoughts on the important issue of confidentiality.”

“She has been striving all along for everything to be as public as possible and for her to be allowed to talk openly after the divorce about her marriage if she needed to.”

“Very dramatically and ironically, she has now changed her view in the belief that the judge’s written decision may be unfavourable to her.”

“Ultimately, the judge has to say whose evidence he prefers when he decides the amount to award [and] sadly for Heather, it appears the judge has come down more on Paul’s side.”

Earlier reports claim Heather will receive a settlement worth around £46million, with £25million of that in a lump sum and the rest as ongoing maintenance and child support expenses until four year old daughter Beatrice turns 18.

A source told the Daily Mail: “On an analysis of the case law, Mills was always going to receive around £25million. I think it’s fair to say the judge has not erred from that.

“The judgment is very thorough. He has gone into every detail to make sure neither party can have grounds for appeal.

“It’s fair to say the judgment is very long [but] on the whole is reasonable and acceptable and appears very sensible.”

“I doubt there will be an appeal - although who knows?”

During last month’s hearings, Paul is said to have turned down a package worth £60million to Heather. He has an estimated fortune of £825million.
