Paul O'GradyChat show presenter Paul O’Grady has called Amy Winehouse a self-indulgent idiot.

The comedian, who shot to fame as his alter ego Lily Savage in the mid-1990s, recently spent a week in Free State, South Africa on a Save the Children charity trip and visited children living in poverty with HIV: “One girl was singing a Rihanna song and wanted to be a pop star but I just thought, ‘You’re never going to get out of here.’”

“That’s why I get annoyed about Amy. She has the most fabulous voice and she behaves like an idiot. She’s self-indulgent and she’s hailed as a hero for her behaviour. It’s disgraceful.”

“I feel like getting hold of her and yelling, ‘I don’t want you found in a pool of your own vomit in a dicey bedsit.’”
