Shia LaBeouf facing arrest of court non-appearance
It looks like Shia LaBeouf might have another “embarrassing” arrest to add to his collection: a bench warrant has reportedly been issued for his arrest after he failed to attend a court appearance yesterday.
The Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star received a ticket for unlawful smoking in Burbank, California next month after police spotted him smoking in a protected shopping district. He was expected to appear in court over the charge yesterday morning but neither he or an attorney representing him attended.
A $1000 bench warrant was then issued, meaning he can be arrested on site next time he is seen by a law enforcement officer.
His publicist refused to comment on the warrant but added that Shia didn’t have legal representation for the matter, suggesting the actor had completely forgotten about the incident.
UPDATE: The warrant has now been recalled after an attorney for Shia entered a plea of “not guilty” on behalf of the actor. After a brief appearance in court, lawyer Michael Norris told reporters that Shia “was never in danger of being arrested” because while the warrant had been ordered, it had yet to be fully issued.
