Halle Berry and Gabriel AubryHalle Berry and partner Gabriel Aubry have revealed their newborn daughter is to be called Nahla Ariela Aubry.

Halle gave birth to the little girl in Los Angeles on Sunday morning but told Access Hollywood that they only came up with the name after she was welcomed into the world: “We didn’t have a name picked out until just before we left the hospital.”

“For us it was hard to name the most important person in our life until we met her.”

According to name experts, Nahla means “honeybee” in Arabic and “drink of water” in Hebrew, while Ariela is a version of Ariel, which means “Lion or Lionness of God” in Hebrew or honours the Archangel Ariel in Judeo-Christian mysticism, who is usually seen to be the Angel of Healing and New Beginnings.
