Paul McCartneyPaul McCartney has reportedly vowed to not let his bitter divorce battle from Heather Mills interfere with raising their daughter.

A source close to the former Beatle told the Mirror that Paul is keen to maintain a “close and cordial” relationship with Heather for the sake of four year old daughter, Beatrice: “Paul is an old hippy at heart. He holds true to the principles of the 60s - love, peace and understanding.”

“It may sound surprising after everything Heather has put him through but he’ll do his damnedest to make sure they stay friends.”

“He doesn’t want war. He just wants to get on with his life, concentrate on Beatrice and put the whole sorry episode behind him.”

Heather was awarded a settlement of £24.3million by High Court judge Mr Justice Bennett on Monday but was harshly criticised in the official judgement and said to have a “warped perception” of her role in Paul’s life.

As part of the settlement, both parties are restricted on what they can say regarding the details of the agreement and about their marriage in general but Heather is said to be in talks with a number of media outlets to sell her story.

A source told the Daily Mail: “There is always a way to get information out. Heather feels she’s been emotionally raped by the whole experience. And she wants Paul to pay. Let’s not forget she has claimed to have hours of taped evidence which - she says - shows Paul as an abusive husband who drank and did drugs.”

Heather is said to be focusing on the US media because she is not as demonised over there and has residual popularity in the country after her appearance on Dancing with the Stars last year: “Heather’s in conversation with Larry King to guest-present. Oprah Winfrey wants her on to talk about being in the eye of a media storm.”

“She has been asked by NBC to do a documentary about her life and her charity work. All these shows of course want is the juice on the marriage - but they are pitching towards Heather’s sensibilities.”

“She has been offered £1million from the [US edition of] OK! magazine to do a sit down chat - an ‘At Home With Heather’ piece.”

“She is also in talks with a publisher with a view to immediately updating her biography for re-release with a carefully legalled version of her years with McCartney. That will be a short chapter, obviously. But of course, she will be able to bring in what came out in the settlement as long as she does not stray too far from the script.”

“Perhaps she is being rather deluded in thinking that they all want her because she is an A-list star. The divorce is all anyone wants her to talk about.”
