Steve-OSteve-O has said his time in hospital is forcing him to be introspective about the damage years of partying and performing has taken on his body - but he doesn’t see it as a bad thing.

The Jackass star is currently on a mental evaluation hold at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after threatening suicide.

Writing on his blog recently, he explained that his sober time in the psychiatric ward has made him realises “there is more to me than the act of scrotum-stapling.”

“I had never seen the tolls that my years have taken on my flesh so vividly. Pretty wild to wait until you’re hidden away in the ‘nut house’ to become self-conscious about the way you look.”

“I am, indeed, very proud to be exactly how I am, imperfections and all. As a matter of fact, I look forward to the deterioration of my appearance over future years, with hopes of giggling, in old age, at the thought of how truly ugly I will have become.”

In a darker part of his blog though, he claims he’s always been “powerless” when it came to alcohol addiction “because it had such a grip on Mom’s adulthood and my childhood, and I never chose to fight it.”

He added that his mum once told family members that she had lymph node cancer to cover up her alcoholism: “I can’t believe I just called out my own dead Mom for what’s surely the worst lie she ever told.”

“I also can’t believe I ever picked up my first drink on my own after the way alcohol ruined her life. God, I miss my Mom.”
