Kerry Katona was rushed to hospital yesterday amid pregnancy complication fears.

The former Atomic Kitten, who is around seven months pregnant with her fourth child, was taken a maternity hospital in Macclesfield, Cheshire yesterday afternoon after telling her midwife that she was experiencing increasing pain in her legs and ankles - a potential sign of pre-eclampsia.

Kerry’s spokesperson Max Clifford said last night: “She’s been in a lot of pain, particularly in the last few days.”

“It is a very worrying time but she is in the safest place for her and her baby.”

“If it turns out to be pre-eclampsia then it can be a very serious condition, she’ll need urgent medical attention.”

“[Husband Mark Croft]’s very concerned like the rest of us. But she is a fighter and we’ve all got our fingers crossed.”

Pre-eclampsia kills around 10 mothers and 1000 babies in the UK every year and is thought to be caused shallow implantation of the placenta.

The I’m a Celebrity… star thought she had miscarried the baby early in the pregnancy but on medical examination, it was found to be a false alarm. Last week she was briefly admitted to the Priory clinic in London for depression and help with ongoing treatment for her bipolar disorder.
