Corinne Bailey Rae holds funeral for late husband

Corinne Bailey Rae’s late husband Jason Rae was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Leeds yesterday.

More than 100 friends and family were invited to attend the service at St George’s Church, including Jason’s band The Haggis Horns and producer Mark Ronson.

Onlookers report that Corinne was amongst the last of the mourners to leave after the 90 minute service: “She kept her head down because she knew there were lots of people watching.”

“I think she was trying to be brave, but just her appearance gave an indication of how she must be feeling. She’s definitely lost a lot of weight.”

The funeral party then travelled to The Wardrobe, the jazz bar where Corinne and Jason first met and also held their wedding reception, for the wake.

Jason is believed to have died of an accidental drug overdose after his body was found at the couple’s Leeds home late last month. Police are awaiting toxicology reports before confirming the cause of death.
