Naomi CampbellNaomi Campbell has been released on bail after spending over eight hours in police custody over her alleged assault on a police officer yesterday.

The supermodel was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London yesterday afternoon after reportedly engaging in an argument with British Airways cabin crew staff over an item of lost luggage.

She had boarded a Los-Angeles bound flight out of the airport’s new troublesome Terminal 5 around 4pm yesterday but before the plane departed, she was told that not all of her bags would make it onto the flight because it was too heavy and would have to be forwarded on the next flight.

Onlookers report she shouted at the messenger, saying: “This is a joke, right? Why can’t you do anything right? Get all my bags on this flight! I’m Naomi Campbell.”

Another onlooker added: “She was screaming and shouting, effing and blinding and complaining that she did not have her clothes for her television appearance. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“It was pretty violent. It went on maybe 10 or 15 minutes. You could tell she was very upset.”

She then called the staff members “bloody fools” and shouted at her fellow First Class passengers “what are you looking at?”

The plane’s crew tried to calm her down and when that failed, restrain her before calling the airport’s armed police. Naomi is then said to have called the officers “A***holes! You’re all a***holes!” before spitting at them, causing her to be handcuffed and removed from the plane.

A source told the Mirror: “It was extraordinary. BA staff and the police did all they could to help her. But she was out of control and officers had no option but to arrest her. I think she’d had several alcoholic drinks. She just wouldn’t calm down.”

A police spokesperson confirmed an incident yesterday: “At 17:11 we were alerted to a disturbance at Terminal 5 where officers attended.”

“A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and taken to Heathrow police station.

“She has been released on bail pending further inquiries, to return at a date in late May.”
