George ClooneyFirst Angelina Jolie admits she’s got low self-esteem, now George Clooney has said he has “ugly days”.

Speaking at the European premiere of Leatherheads in London last night, George told reporters that he doesn’t always wake up feeling great about himself: “I have my ugly days. Like this morning, after the night before, for example.”

Monday night’s partying in fact stretched until almost dawn on Tuesday morning - but the actor blamed friend Mariella Frostrup: “Mariella made me drink because that’s her job. But I’m Irish so it’s in my blood.”

He added that he was only capable of meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown because he used a family technique to avoid a hangover: “If you continue drinking you don’t get a hangover. My parents taught me that.”

Mariella, who also attended the premiere and was dubbed “Satan” by George as she stepped out onto the red carpet, denied that she was completely to blame for George’s drunkenness, saying: “George never lets an appointment in the morning stand in the way of a good time.”
