Harrison Ford has said partner Calista Flockhart is the “best [mum] in the world” and he’s grateful for her bringing a child into his home.

Harrison started dating the former Ally McBeal star after meeting at the Golden Globe Awards in 2002, when Calista’s son Liam was just one year old.

Speaking to Reader’s Digest recently, Harrison said his relationship with Calista and Liam has “made me just a bit less self-centered.”

“She’s brought a child back into my home. My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child’s growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff.”

“[Calista is] the best [mum] in the world. She’s a mother by choice - she adopted Liam before we met, as a single parent, which is an awesome responsibility to take. She’s devoted herself to Liam and has done a really wonderful job raising him. I’m happy to now have a part of the job.”

He added that he’s a different parent to Liam than he was to his four grown up children - 40 year old Benjamin, 39 year old Willard, 21 year old Malcolm and 17 year old Georgia - because “I’m a little bit more mature”.
