Nicole Richie with dad Lionel RichieLionel Richie may have been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards on Wednesday night but he’s more interested in being “G-Pa” to daughter Nicole Richie’s baby girl, Harlow.

Nicole accompanied her dad to the award ceremony in Hollywood and told Extra that motherhood is “beyond amazing, and my family has been supportive. And I go to my dad’s house all the time.”

“He actually babysat the other day - him and Joel [Madden, Nicole’s finacé] - and they were amazing. I mean, she slept the whole time.”

Lionel joked: “It’s when the baby wakes up that I freak out!”

Nicole’s mum Brenda Richie, who also attended the event, added: “Nicole talks to Harlow constantly, and she tries to answer back! [She] is trying to crawl already [too].”

“[But] I’m lucky if I get to [see] the baby. [Nicole] loves being with that baby!

Lionel added that motherhood has changed his daughter almost beyond recognition: “She went from, ‘Dad, I don’t care. Whatever you say’ to ‘Wash your hands, dad’ and ‘Be quiet, dad’. It’s a whole new sound of the house.”
