Richie Sambora is likely to face a charge of child endangerment following his drink-driving arrest last month, according to new reports.

The Bon Jovi guitarist was arrested after he was failed numerous field sobriety tests when stopped in Laguna Beach, California on 25th March. His ten year old daughter Ava, from his former marriage to Heather Locklear, was travelling in the car at the time along with another minor and a woman believed to be Richie’s new girlfriend.

A spokesperson for the Laguna Beach Police Department told Us Weekly that the LBPD has requested the Orange County District Attorney’s office charge Richie with two misdemanours - the DUI and the endangerment rap: “All that [this] means is the police department has requested these charges against him and it was sent over to the district attorney’s office. It does not mean that he is officially charged, the DA has the final decision on that.”

A spokesperson for the DA added that the case is currently under review. Richie is due to appear in court for an arraignment on 7th May.

Richie spent time in rehab on two separate occasions last year seeking help for alcohol abuse problems. He was spotted partying with a group of friends in Las Vegas at the weekend after Bon Jovi gig at the MGM Grand but onlookers report he only drank water but “was in really good spirits”.
